Get ready it’s about to begin. Here is the planned itinerary…
First stop Athens: Where we will explore a city full of ancient history. The Acropolis rising above the city. Wandering the streets where the biblical character Paul spread the good news of the gospel. We will stroll neighborhoods like Plaka, Psyrri, Anafiotki and even staying in Monastiraki. This is where we will be exploring narrow lanes, viewing neoclassical houses and visiting street markets. As we explore I’ll smell the aroma coming from the outdoor cafes, seeing the street art and just engulfing ourselves in a new and exciting culture.
After our stay in Athens we fly to the island Naxos. Naxos is a mix of long sandy beaches, small mountain villages and quiet farmland. We will spend our time exploring by bus and foot as we make our way around this island adventure.
We leave Naxos and take a ferry ride to the famous island Santorini. Santorini is known to be a dramatic, postcard perfect island in Greece, famous for its whitewashed villages perched on volcanic cliffs and it’s deep blue caldera views.
We say goodbye to Greece and fly to Croatia. Our mode of transportation throughout Croatia is a Rented van. Our first stay will be in a small coastal village called Cavtat. We will use this as a home base for a few days as we explore small villages and soak in the views and clear Adriatic water. Being right next door to Montenegro a day trip is in order to visit this beautiful country and stop by the bay of Kotor.
As we move up the Dalmatian coast we will take a short detour and visit the town of Trebinje in the country with two names Bosnia & Herzegovina before finding our way to a beautiful beach town called Brela. Here we will find pine back pebble beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, and dramatic setting beneath the Biokovo Mountains.
We continue are drive up the coast and head for the national parks filled with lush scenery and cascading waterfalls. The two national parks are Krka & Plivtice lake. After spending three days exploring the Croatian wilderness we head for our final destination for our flight home Zagreb. But, not before stopping in one more country Slovenia having lunch in the small village is Melina, Slovenia.
Well there’s the itinerary. Stop back often to hear how our adventure works out.
